DTF Application Instructions

⚙️ Quick start Guide

280°F • 20 seconds • Medium pressure • Warm-to-cold peel • Re-press 5–8 seconds with parchment

📦 Every order includes a tester transfer and a reusable silicone parchment sheet.
Always press the tester first to dial in your settings before applying your main design

📝 Detailed Step-by-Step Instructions

1. 👕Prepare the Garment

  • Lay the garment flat on your press or surface.
  • Remove any lint, dust, or fibers.
  • Pre-press the garment for 3–5 seconds to flatten the fabric and remove moisture.
  • We include a tester transfer — use it first to dial in your heat and pressure before pressing your main design.

2. 🎯Position Your Transfer

  • Place the DTF transfer ink-side down, film facing up.
  • Make sure it’s smooth and fully touching the fabric.
  • If using press pillows, make sure the entire transfer receives the same pressure and heat so no edges lift.

3. 🔥Press the Transfer

  • Before pressing your garment, place the included silicone parchment sheet between your press (or iron) and the transfer film to protect the surface.
  • Temperature: 280°F
  • Time: 20 seconds
  • Pressure: Medium — firm enough to seal the adhesive without crushing the garment.

🛠️ If using a handheld press or household iron:

  • Apply firm, even pressure (not your full body weight).
  • Keep the heating surface flat and steady during the entire press.
  • Move slowly and avoid rocking or tipping.
  • Household irons may vary because they do not maintain perfectly even heat or pressure.

4. ❄️➡️♨️Warm-to-Cold Peel

  • Allow the transfer to cool to warm or fully cold before peeling.
  • Peel slowly from one corner in a smooth, steady motion.

⚠️ If any part of the design doesn’t stick:

  • Stop peeling immediately.
  • Lay the film back down flat.
  • Re-press, focusing on the area that didn’t bond.
  • Let it cool again before continuing to peel.

5. 🔁♨️Re-Press (Finishing Press)

  • After peeling, cover the print with the included silicone parchment sheet.
  • Press again for 5–8 seconds.
  • This finishing press smooths the print and locks the adhesive fully into the fibers.
  • Keep the silicone sheet — it’s reusable for future transfers.

6. 🌀Aftercare

  • Let the garment rest for several hours before washing.
  • Wash inside-out, cold water, gentle cycle.
  • Drying: Our DTF transfers hold up great in a dryer on low to medium heat or standard tumble dry.
  • Hang dry for maximum lifespan (optional).
  • Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, and very high heat.

💡Additional Notes & Best Practices

Press Type Matters
You’ll get the most consistent results from a real clamshell or swing-away heat press. Cricut-style presses and household irons can work, but may need extra testing to find the right pressure and heat.

Fabric Compatibility
DTF works great on cotton, polyester, blends, fleece, and most smooth fabrics.
Avoid loose knits, thick textures, terry cloth, or fabrics with heavy waterproofing — adhesion can vary.

Use the Tester Transfer First
Every press heats differently. Use the included tester before pressing your real design to dial in temp, time, and pressure.

Storage Tips for Transfers
Keep unused transfers flat, cool, and dry. Avoid humidity, heat, and bending the film. Store them sealed until use.

Don’t Pre-Wash Garments
Fresh fabric fibers bond better than pre-washed ones. No need to wash the shirt before pressing.

Avoid Harsh Additives
Do not use bleach, fabric softener, or oxygen-based boosters (like OxiClean). These can shorten print life.

Do Not Iron Directly on the Print
If ironing is needed, always cover with parchment or a cloth.

Make Sure the Garment Is Dry
Do not press on damp garments or fresh-out-of-the-dryer steamed fabric — moisture weakens adhesion.

⚠️ Troubleshooting

Edges lifting: Stop peeling → lay film down → re-press → cool → peel again
Patchy spots: Pressure too light or heat inconsistent
Powdery feel: Needs finishing press 5–8 seconds
Cracking: Too hot in dryer or uneven pressure
Not sticking at all: Fabric damp, pressure off, or transfer not fully flat
Press too hot: Letters look shiny or smashed — lower heat slightly
Press too light: Parts look dull or fuzzy — increase pressure slightly
